president obama should do next time he faces mitt romney in a debate? >> i think the president has to keep doing what he's doing. be truthful about why he made the choices he made. keep talking about the fact we are moving forward, not back with positive job growth. he has to continue to press governor romney that he's not putting forth the specifics of how he would do the various things he promised. it is a choice right now between two alternatives. i think problem's is based on the reality of the decisions we must make together as a people if we want a better and stronger economy. don't miss lawrence o'donnell on msnbc, the place for politics. here is a look at other news. in south carolina, a viole attack caught on camera. a convicted robbery defendant surprised his public defender with a roundhouse hit in the face after getting a 15-year sentence. he was left with a bloody mouth. he had an additional six months tacked on to the sentence. >>> the trend of criminal behavior continues in florida. a man with a machete came into the police station. officers used a taser and tackled him to t

the debate. he just looked overall more polished than obama did. i thought the moderating was great. people have to get their views across. i believe that obama during the debate concluded even more to me that he is not what we need over the next four years. he has talked about the same things for the past year during the campaign, which is providing more safety nets for lower income people, putting in more government regulations on small businesses and big businesses, he has not taken china seriously, taking american jobs and being a money manipulator. he has added so much to the national debt to that he promised to reduce. i know it is not all of his fault and the congress is to blame, too, but he is the guy that has to take charge and get people realizing we are on a path to destruction. i think we need a new president in 2012. >> will also take some tweets. karl rove says -- next is a viewer watching us from oklahoma who is a democrat. this is gary. >> thank you. i thought the president held up on mr. romney. mr. romney comes out and tells you he will tax -- not lower taxes on the rich

goals of this debate camp here in nevada. the obama campaign trying to get the president to give shorter, sharper answers in part so that he can get all of this key points now. they say the president tends to be professorial sometimes. that's what they want to avoid. they want to give direct and crisp answers. also to avoid potentially looking condescending. that's one of the big things they're worried about here. so far president obama has had four mock debates with senator john kerry who is of course no stranger to presidential debates. he also i can tell you had one more practice session last night after president obama had a campaign event in las vegas. now, as you pointed out, both sides are really trying to tamper down expectations. lavishing praise on the other candidate. that is because there's so much at stake in these debates really for most candidates. mitt romney tried to turn his campaign around, but president obama trying to hold on to the narrow lead you mentioned in your introduction. really trying to tamp down expectations. should also point out that president obama hold
